This piece is from a photo taken during a hike with my dad. We loved hiking the vast trails in the mountains of Colorado. We stopped when we saw this beautiful tree, towering over an old, broken-down barn and what used to be a loafing shed for animals. As we sat and ate lunch, we talked about who and what must have occupied this space and just enjoyed the beautiful nature around us. Turned and raw edge applique; mixed media to include inks and pastels; loose threads and cheesecloth added for texture. Machine quilted.
